At times, people can prepare and educate themselves for their future. More often, a single profession or trade is not enough for a person to feel satisfied with what they do. There might be something else that drives them–a passion and purpose.
This is what happened to Rob Lipsett who, after spending several years studying in college, discovered that being there was not for him. He was 22 at the time, and decided to pursue his dreams and follow his true passion: fitness.
“The gym. Training hard. Learning about nutrition. Those were things I’ve always been consistent with and passionate about. I had no problem motivating myself to do these things and also to help others with it.” Rob shares.
Rob currently runs a highly successful protein pancake company called Fuel Cakes. He also owns a training and nutrition app called Game Plan. In addition, Rob is the author of a best selling book called “The Game Plan.”
Rob’s love for fitness has inspired him to work and do what he currently does. It would be hard for Rob to do anything else after finding something that truly moves him.
“I can’t think of any other industry I would like to be involved in. Your health and fitness are the most important things you have in life, I don’t want to be on my deathbed and think I’ve left something on the table. I want to know that I gave it my all, that I lived a life that I was proud of and a life that I could look back on and say hey, that was pretty epic!” He states.
But it does not stop there. Rob also founded an event agency by the name of The Creator Agency, where he brings content creators and CEOs together to talk about their journeys.
“Before joining the fitness industry, I would constantly want more out of life. I didn’t want to live a normal life. I wanted to do work that I was fulfilled and passionate about. I wanted to do something every day that would make me jump out of bed as soon as I opened my eyes in the morning.” Rob adds.
Today, Rob differentiates himself from his competitors because of endurance. He says he is by no means the strongest, smartest, most talented person in the industry. But he does not give up.
“There are many times when I’ll feel like giving up and I’ll be on the verge of giving up, but I never will.” Rob says.
Not only that, but also, while others may see success as having a lot of money, being famous and recognized or possessing a lot of material goods, Rob thinks differently.
“The greatest measure of success is the number of people you have positively influenced. It’s as simple as that. This is also the principle of success in business. The more value you provide and the more people you help, the more business will come to you.” He explains.
There are opportunities where out of necessity people have to do things quickly, but in the business world it’s not always the fastest who achieves their goal first. Rob advises people trying to start their own business to be patient.
“Patience is a killer virtue. True entrepreneurs are extremely patient, cool, calm, and collected. They are the people who remain consistent over the years, as they are not looking for overnight success. They are not in a hurry. They enjoy every moment. When it comes too fast or too easy you don’t value it as much. The journey is the best part”.
When starting his business, Rob’s main obstacle was coming from a place where online fitness was pretty much non-existent. There were also a lot of naysayers and people who doubted him, but he saw it as a blessing and thrived from it.
“My message for everyone is: Never compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter ten.” Rob says.
Moving forward, Rob wants to take his Lipsett Fitness brand to the next level. He wants to launch a Fuel Cakes distribution center in the United States, host more events and change more lives, and help more people around the world get fit with Game Plan.
