Sekou Clarke is originally from St. Andrew, Jamaica, where he stood out as an exceptional athlete thanks to his tireless work ethic and impressive athletic ability. Which earned him a full athletic scholarship to the University of Florida. During his time in college, he served as team captain and was recognized as an All-American 10 times. In addition, his contribution was essential for the Gators team to win two national titles.
After completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Florida, Sekou decided to follow his dream of becoming a lawyer, and in 2016, he earned his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal College of Law.
His passion for representing those whose voices needed to be heard led him to work as an associate attorney at a personal injury firm in Clermont, Florida. He later joined a prestigious inner-city law firm with offices in Florida and New York. There, he served as lead attorney in the firm’s Immigration Department, accumulating valuable experience working with immigrants. Work experiences that, along with his commitment to justice, led him to create The Sekou Clarke Law Group, an immigration law firm created by immigrants for immigrants. Specializing in employment visas for large and small businesses, sports visas, investor visas, deportation defense, immigrant injuries, and family immigration matters. We have a team of expert professionals committed to protecting the interests of their clients and who know how to help present your case for a hopeful future for you and your family.
To which Sekou, as an immigrant and fierce defender of justice, has given the mission of:
“Closing the gap between privilege and access, empowering those who have been denied opportunities… We understand the challenges faced by immigrants and those who have suffered unjust injuries, and we support them as warriors in their pursuit of justice. With compassion and resilience, we work tirelessly to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, receives the fair treatment, compensation, and support they deserve. Together, we strive to build a society where each person defines their own right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
Our firm is convinced that families should remain together and therefore fight tirelessly so that each one is treated fairly in the United States.
As an attorney, Sekou Clarke, licensed to practice in all Florida state courts as well as the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, is a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, the Association of Immigration Lawyers, and the Orange County Bar Association. His excellence in Immigration Law was recognized in 2018 by the American Trial Lawyers Association, which included him in its list of the Top 40 Under 40 in Immigration Law. Additionally, Sekou was named Team Jamaica Bickle’s International Ambassador for his community philanthropic efforts and his excellence in the practice of law. Sekou is passionate about participating in community outreach programs and mentoring athletes and high school students.
His firm not only focuses on immigration but is also rapidly gaining recognition in the personal injury arena. He represents clients injured in automobile accidents, slips, and falls, as well as medical malpractice, throughout the state of Florida. His approach is client-centered, seeking to help injured people obtain financial compensation for damages and losses caused by the negligence of others. A mission that, to date, has allowed them to recover millions of dollars in injury settlements for their clients.
“Growing up in Jamaica, I cultivated a strong entrepreneurial spirit, driven by a firm belief in my purpose to lead and uplift others. Recognizing the power of advocacy to bring about positive change, I saw the legal profession as the ideal opportunity to represent and defend people’s rights and provide invaluable access to justice. By becoming a lawyer, I am not only fulfilling my personal aspirations but also creating meaningful opportunities to empower and represent people’s rights,” says Sekou.
He is convinced that his experiences as an athlete and immigrant have been decisive in his life, which is why he does not hesitate to affirm that:
“Being an immigrant and an athlete, being goal-oriented and goal-driven is the same mentality I have when it comes to law and taking my cases to a certain goal.”
“Having navigated the complexities of the immigration process myself, I witnessed firsthand the challenges and confusion that people often encounter. ” This experience deeply inspired me to advocate for others, guiding them through complexities with clarity and empathy.”
His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to meticulously identify a product or service that addresses a specific problem or meets a need in the market. Additionally, it is crucial to ensure that your offering is effectively branded and positioned to resonate with your target audience, fostering trust and differentiation in a competitive landscape.
For him, mindset is undoubtedly the cornerstone of business success. It serves as the effort upon which each of the objectives is built, determining the trajectory of the journey. A positive mindset breeds consistency, hunger for growth, adaptability, and unwavering determination. It fosters a culture of creativity and resilience, empowering entrepreneurs to meet challenges with grace and discover opportunities where others see obstacles. On the contrary, a negative mindset can be a barrier, obstructing progress and amplifying challenges. In any business, mindset is not simply a factor but the very essence of victory or defeat.
Regarding fear, he recommends accepting it as an opportunity for growth and resilience and as a stimulus for improvement. Facing it requires understanding and courage, allowing you to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger on the other side. Just like in his case, when he was forced to self-finance his efforts,. The early stages were not supported by loans, partnerships, or lines of credit, requiring ingenuity, perseverance, and strategic planning to establish and sustain his law firm. However, this obstacle, in addition to strengthening his resilience, sharpened his law firm acumen, laying the foundation for a lasting life.
Regarding success, for him, it represents the achievement of freedom, both in choice and in time, which allows him a balance between personal fulfillment and professional achievements. He embraces the peace of mind that comes with the pursuit of meaningful goals and the joy of sharing life’s blessings with loved ones.
For next year, he is focused on the expansion and improvement of Auctus Marketing Partners, a business consulting and marketing agency, as well as One People Law, a dedicated law firm representing clients in immigration and personal injury cases. And, above all, the growth of his Sekou Clarke Law Group office in New York.
